BOMA Oklahoma City, in partnership with Houston BOMA, is proud to present a new Building Engineering Management 101 course!  Created by and for building engineers, the course gives students a high-level overview of basic trade skills, property management, and effective communication skills to bridge the gap between technical knowledge and soft skills.  Building engineers develop management skills specifically tailored to their profession to grow their careers and become leaders in the field. 

PROGRAM CURRICULM

• Basic Understanding of the Business

Ownership types, real estate investment and strategies, building designations, roles and responsibilities of property personnel, engineer value-adds, communication and reporting tools, customer service, etc.

• Financial Operations

Budget development, expense monitoring, lease administration and leasing.

• Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

Regulatory compliance and risk mitigation and management through the governing of your properties, including but not limited to standards of OSHA and NFPA.

• Communication Skills

Basics of effective verbal and nonverbal communication, how to deal with confrontation, guidelines for written communication, and the importance of personal appearance and manners.

• Career Development & Continuing Education

Introduction to BOMA, information on BOMA member benefits, introduction to BOMI International, and information about education offered by BOMA International.
