The Metropolitan Library System is a lot more than BO OKS!
< p>The idea of a public library in Oklahoma C ity began in 1898 when the Philomathea Club, a women's study club, tapped l ocal businessmen to donate money to purchase books and a bookcase. As the c ollection grew, a request for funds was answered by the famous philanthropi st, Andrew Carnegie, who donated $25,000 to construct the first library bui lding which was completed in 1901. Today, the Metropolitan Library System has 19 locations across Oklahoma County. Materials and services incl ude books, eBooks, audiobooks, movies, music, podcasts, searchable database s, access to technology, community events, research assistance, special col lections, historical archives, and more.

In her role as a librarian, she enjoys helping others find ancestors on their family tree s as well as researching her own family history. In her free time, she enj oy playing in the dirt (gardening), cutting up fabric to resew (quilting), and reading history books, historical fiction, and thrillers.
